Abstract
Dendritic cells are now regarded not only as the initiators but also as regulators of immune responses. They are potentially powerful tools for the therapeutic manipulation of immune reactivity in cancer, infectious disease, and allograft rejection. We provide a brief overview of the properties of dendritic cells, with emphasis on recently acquired information, then focus attention on their capacity to modulate immune reactivity, and its relevance to transplantation.Keywords
