Abstract
The correlation spectrum of a symbolic sequence is defined. The harmonic heights in the spectrum of a nucleotide sequence are calculated rigorously. A model of coding sequences is proposed and the origin of 3-periodicity is explained. The possible occurrence of a hidden periodicity of base correlation with no peak in the spectrum is discussed. Keywords
