Abstract
C. albicans infection is a frequent complication in immunodeficient patients, but the development of multiple intraparenchymal abscesses is very rare. The diagnostic-therapeutic strategy chosen for a young patient with leukemia and multiple splenic and renal abscesses caused by C. albicans is described. A preoperative diagnosis was performed with ultrasonography and computed tomography. The only healthy part of the spleen was removed and grafted into the omentum. Using intraoperative ultrasonography on both kidneys the abscess cavities were located, aspirated and closed with a human fibrin glue. This publication has 0 references indexed in Scilit:
