Abstract
Injections of azocasein, complete Freund’s adjuvant, endotoxin or phytohemagglutinin did not result in amyloidosis in experimental mice of many different strains. Casein proved to be quite amyloidogenic even for young mice. Injection of phytohemagglutinin combined with endotoxin or cyclophosphamide induced amyloidosis in aging mice. The results indicate that in the etiology of amyloidosis unknown and at present uncontrollable factors are operative. Because this malady is of great clinical importance it is worthwhile to develop entirely reproducible models. Unfortunately none are as yet available and further studies seem indicated. Keywords
