Abstract
This book is the culmination of eight years of deliberations by the Committee on Editorial Policy of the Council of Biology Editors, of which Dr. DeBakey has been Chairman since 1971. The primary purpose of the Committee was to hammer out guidelines for the benefit of newly appointed editors, and this small volume marks the fruition of that considerable effort.
