Abstract
On the wall of the Director's office at the Asia-Pacific Institute for Broadcasting Development (AIBD) in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, is one of the most impressive tangible indications of the breadth and scope of media training activities now being undertaken in the region. It is a large sign-board liberally covered with coloured pegs and markers. Each line on the board indicates a new training course or seminar being undertaken in one of the cities or towns in the region — Kathmandu or Bandar Seri Bagawan, New Delhi or Suva, Ho Chi Minh City or Islamabad.
