Abstract
It is pointed out that the spin‐wave sideband of MnF2 has some peculiar features. If the ion is excited optically, the total spin of the ion and the exchange coupling with the neighboring ions will be changed. A general formula is developed to take this effect into account and to calculate the line shape.
