Abstract
Histamine release and concomitant morphological changes in rat peritoneal mast cells were studied under various conditions. It was found that mast cells react somewhat differently, depending on the means by which histamine release was brought about. Bee venom produced effects similar to those of compound 48/80 and seemed to trigger an active cell process with extrusion of mast granules as a final result. n‐Decylamine and hyposmotic solutions appeared to bring about histamine release by affecting the integrity of mast cell fine structure resulting in a breakdown of plasma membrane and cellular compartments. This publication has 18 references indexed in Scilit:
