Abstract
An approximate symmetry relation for spin-dependent scattering amplitudes is derived in the distorted-wave Born approximation. This symmetry property allows some conclusions to be drawn about the behaviour of certain 'spin-sensitive' parameters at intermediate and high energies. It is shown that some of these parameters are closely related to specific details of the spin-coupling mechanism. Possible consequences for the interpretation of recent superelastic scattering experiments are pointed out. Keywords
