Abstract
Colostral whey [from humans] at dilutions up to 1:100 inhibited the uptake of 3H- thymidine and the differentiation of pokeweed mitogen-stimulated peripheral blood lymphocytes from normal adults into Ig-containing plasma cells. Upon gel filtration (Sephadex G-200), inhibitory activity was associated with high MW fractions. Secretory component, but not monomeric, polymeric or colostral IgA, IgM, IgG, lactoferrin, casein or .alpha.-lactalbumin, inhibited the response to mitogen. Supernatants from cultures of colostral cells did not induce the differentiation of adult peripheral or cord blood lymphocytes into IgA-containing cells and did not stimulate the uptake of 3H- thymidine. This publication has 17 references indexed in Scilit:
