Abstract
American society is currently experiencing a wave of planned intervention endeavors geared to modify the behaviors of portions of the population designated as somehow deprived or deficient. Before gerontologists also become swept along with this tide, it is urged that careful consideration be given to the motives and assumptions underlying intervention research and practice. It is recommended that intervention be directed toward the implementation of age integration and the development of a life-span approach to education.
