Abstract
Antibiotics that interfere with DNA replication, as well as cell wall synthesis, induce the SOS response. In this report, we show that ciprofloxacin induces synthesis of colicins, narrow-spectrum antibiotics frequently produced by Escherichia coli strains, in an SOS-dependent manner. Keywords
