Abstract
The influences of Achievement-Orientation (AO) and Taylor Several Anxiety (TSA) scores on two “moving” perceptual tasks were investigated. A U-shaped relationship was found between time judgment (TJ) and AO scores for males, with a reversed pattern for females. Males in a highly involved group had a positive correlation ( r), and males in a less involved group had a negative r between TSA and TJ scores. Females again tended to reverse the male patterns. Ss of both sexes who were high in AO “held” fluctuations of the Necker cube illusion better than Ss low in AO, the opposite was true for TSA. Suggestions were offered for further investigations of sex differences and motive arousal problems.
