Abstract
A new empirical method of averaging the shear modulus is proposed. The elastic Debye temperatures ϑ calculated for a number of cubic elements and semiconducting compounds have been found to be in excellent agreement with the corresponding computationally exact ϑ. The computed shear modulus is also in good agreement with the observed polycrystalline data. This publication has 9 references indexed in Scilit:
