Abstract
The total amount of water-soluble antioxidants in the organs of the rat before and after exposure to high doses of ionizing radiation was estimated together with the individual antioxidants : glutathione, ascorbic acid, and uric acid. A decrease of all three antioxidants was observed after irradiation, and it is concluded that they all serve as free-radical scavengers. Glutathione and ascorbic acid, in varying proportions, are the most abundant antioxidants in rat organs. Keywords
