Abstract
A NUMBER of agents are known to inhibit platelet function and potentially to prolong the bleeding time.1 Failure to obtain a history of ingestion of one of these agents frequently leads to misinterpretation of platelet abnormalities. In the course of studying platelet behavior in patients with coronary-artery disease we have observed that a contrast agent used in selective coronary angiography can produce profound alterations in platelet-function tests.MethodsThe contrast agents used for angiography (Renografin 76) and left ventricular cineangiography (Renovist II) are products of E.R. Squibb and Sons, Incorporated, and contain, respectively, meglumine diatrizoate (66 and 28.5 per cent), . . .Keywords
