Abstract
The aim of this paper is to discuss the recent fisheries dispute between the United States of America and the Solomon Islands (S.I.) The paper reviews the background of the dispute, considers its implication for the S.I, and argues that the United States has violated international law by not recognizing the sovereignty of the S.I. over its tuna resources. It is also argued that the imposition of an embargo by the United States on the importation of tuna products from the S.L is a violation of the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade. Keywords
