Piezoelectric Studies of Acoustic Softening in KH2PO4 Crystal

Abstract
Long wavelength limit of acoustic x y -shear mode in KDP crystal was studied by use of piezoelectric excitation. This piezoelectric limit of the acoustic soft-mode, the piezoacoustic oscillator, was analyzed in terms of a damped harmonic oscillator model. Possible contributions from this piezoacoustic mode to both the central peak intensity and the dielectric anomaly of ε'(TT c)≃104 ε'(TT c) were discussed in terms of the piezoacoustic mode parameters.
