Abstract
This paper focuses on the ten-year enrollment decline experience of 56 school districts to investigate the effects of performance, strategy, political, and enrollment variables on succession. The data indicate that an executive's political relations with the community and board were the most significant in discriminating between succession and nonsuccession organizations. Keywords
