"The conclusions to be drawn are conservative. It has been shown, at least for two samples of Harvard classes, that differences in the frequency of certain Thematic Apperception Test responses given by members of the American core culture and members of an upperclass alternative subculture could be predicted . . … An implication of the findings is that there can be detected a psychologically distinct 'upper-class personality.'
