Abstract
The use of a modified proportional counter filled with gas generated by the reaction of "active" water with aluminium carbide for assay of tritium in water samples is described. The procedure for combustion of samples and methods for calculation of specific activity as well as examples of labeled materials assayed by these methods is given. Samples of water containing tritium at a concentration of 250 uuc/ml can be determined to an accuracy of [plus or minus] 1%.Keywords
