Abstract
Different methods for the determination of dye sorbed by textile fibers are outlined. The spectrophotometric deter mination of five disperse dyes sorbed on polyethylene terephthalate has been carried out using methods based on dye- extraction and dissolution of fiber in pure and mixed solvent systems. Factors influencing the efficiency of the methods have been discussed. Of the solvents investigated, chlorobenzene at 132°C has been found to be a very efficient ex tractant. The storage and thermal stahility of dyes in chlorobenzene have been studied using spectrophotometric and thin-layer chromatographic techniques. Keywords
