Abstract
THE "Heinz-body anemias" are a group of hemolytic syndromes of diverse etiology with a common morphologic characteristic, first described by Heinz,1 of one or more inclusion bodies within affected red cells (Fig. 1). Geubz bodies can be distinguished from other erythrocyte inclusions in that they can be visualized by phase-contrast microscopy, electron microscopy or light microscopy using supravital stains such as crystal violet.
