Abstract
The intensities of the major infrared absorption bands in liquid C6H6 and C6D6 were measured by an interferometric method. The intensities of the very intense modes were found to be 14 450 ± 110 and 8600 ± 110 cm−1 cm2/mM for C6H6 and C6D6, respectively. Small, but significant deviations from the predictions of the “oriented gas model,” used to interpret these measurements, were observed.
