Abstract
Residents of Evanston, Illinois who had incurred two or more severe life changes within the past year were invited to participate in a seminar intervention composed of brief lectures and small group interactions. The timing of the intervention and the selection criteria were within a primary prevention framework focused on a high risk population. Together social group work and primary prevention amalgamated to emphasize an old-new orientation, preventive social work.
