Angustifolionol has been shown by its general properties and by alkaline degradation to acetone and 2,6-dihydroxy-4-methoxy-3,6-dimethylbenzoic acid (II ; R"=H) to be 5-hydroxy-7-methoxy-2,6,8-trimethylbenzochromone (I ; R,R?=CH3). Its possible biogenetic relations are discussed.
