Abstract
Mean radiative lifetimes for the Fe I levels z5D, z5F, z3P, z5G, e5D, e5G, and e5H have been determined from a dye laser excited atomic beam using the delayed coincidence technique. A two step excitation had to be applied for the higher levels. The results are in a very good agreement with other direct lifetime measurements and in a good agreement with lifetime values computed from transition probabilities measured with electrical arcs. Keywords
