Abstract
Quantitative glutathione reductase (GSR) assays were determined for 3 unrelated humans. The elevated activity in the red blood cells was compared with normal controls. The GSR increase is not due to a generalized gene or chromosome imbalance. The expression of 3 alleles for enzyme control in these individuals assigns GSR to chromosome 8 and is a result of a duplication of heterochromatin in the 8p21 .fwdarw. 8p23 segment.
