Abstract
A national framework is required for the changing roles in surgical nursing. Kate Woodhead discusses the theatre impact The UKCC's Scope of Professional Practice document (1) has legitimised nursing development in areas where there has been little change for decades. Nurses are well placed to undertake these roles, requiring as they do a variety of different skills and experience.becoming less easy to distinguish as the professions continue to self-evaluate, renew and evolve, and pressure is being exerted on trusts to fill the gap left by the proposed reduction in junior doctors’ hours. The changes are unprecedented and some say nursing has lost its way (2).Keywords
