Abstract
A program package written in REDUCE for the basic operations of the exterior calculus - exterior multiplication, Hodge-*, exterior differentiation, inner product and Lie differentiation - is described. The syntax of the implementation is held as close as possible to standard textbook notation, i.e. the exterior product is a nary infix operator, the Hodge-* and the exterior differentiation are unary prefix operators and the inner product and Lie differentiation are binary infix operators. Remarks are made on an extended version currently under test, which includes the variational calculus. Aspects of future developments are discussed. Keywords
