Abstract
We consider the terrestrial trap complex of the Siberian Platform—its position in the series of geological associations, its conditions of occurrence, and its paleostructure. Its possible spatial and temporal associations (in the author's opinion) with the basaltic volcanics of the system of grabens of Western Siberia are defined. We propose that basaltic eruptions simultaneously Involved the platform and a vast portion of the Ural-Siberian geosyncline, and corresponded to the stage of termination of the Hercynian epigeosynclinal orogeny. The subsequent taphrogeny broke the continuity of the basaltic field, which had developed under conditions of depression of the area; a system of horsts and grabens was formed in the central part, which ended the development of the geosyncline proper. Block movements, synchronous with the taphrogeny, led to the formation on the platform, covered by the traps, of a series of step faults, accompanied by alkaline-basic and ultrabasic magmatlsm. —Authors. Keywords
