Ultrastructural Study of the Spore Surface of the Haplosporidian Urosporidium spisuli

Abstract
The surface of U. spisuli spores was examined ultrastructurally, gaining further evidence in support of the hypothesis that surface fine structures of haplosporidian spores are taxonomically significant. Spores have 2-3 extensions which subdivide at the spore body and flare out for varying distances along the cell surface. Circular depressions of 49-208 .mu.m diameter are found on the whole cell surface except over the pore region.
