Abstract
This paper describes a group of registered nurses' investigation of the use of 'double staff time' in a neonatal unit. Using participatory action research, the nurses explored why it was difficult for the unit's staff to take part in continuing education programs that were provided during double staff time. The group drew on their personal experiences as well as data collected from peers in the neonatal unit. The data illustrated that nursing activities and nursing handovers were two factors that encroached on nurses' professional development time. This publication has 0 references indexed in Scilit:
