Abstract
The operation of rectangular clarifiers is simulated by means of the continuity equations. The model permits the examination of hindered settling of solids which are undergoing flocculation and floc disruption. The steady-state solution requires very modest amounts of computer time and also lends itself to the analysis of quiescent settling in jar tests. Keywords
