Abstract
Idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura is an anachronism of nomenclature, which has not yet caught up with the known autoimmune properties of the disease. Diagnosis remains one of exclusion, since there are no unique clinical features or laboratory findings. Management is aimed at achieving a platelet count that maintains a patient's hemostatic competence. Keywords
