Abstract
The molt of dippers in central Scotland is described. Certain atypical molt patterns adopted by the species are adaptations to its semi-aquatic mode of life, with the successive molt of blocks of overlapping wing feathers counteracting any corresponding loss of efficiency in the bird''s underwater maneuverability. This publication has 7 references indexed in Scilit:
