The Training of Engineers: Undergraduates' Preferences and Subsequent Experiences in Employment

Abstract
Final-year undergraduate engineers were asked what kind of training they would like in employment. The same groups were asked one year later about the training they were actually receiving. There were a number of discrepancies between preferences and experiences. Ten per cent were receiving no training and a further twenty per cent claimed their training was not geared toward their institute requirements.
