Internal Conversion inHg198

The $K$-shell conversion coefficients of the 676-kev and the 1088-kev gamma rays of ${\mathrm{Hg}}^{198}$ have been measured to be ${\alpha }_K\mathrm{}\left(676\right)=0.019\mathrm{}\pm 0.005$ and ${\alpha }_K\mathrm{}\left(1088\right)=0.0046\mathrm{}\pm 0.0006$. The 676-kev gamma ray is shown to be a mixture of $M1\mathrm{}$ and $E2\mathrm{}$ radiations in approximately equal amounts.
