Abstract
Peroxidase isozymes in various vegetative organs of wild rice species were investigated using the starch-gel electrophoresis method. Materials used were in total lll strains and 6 population samples of Oryza perennis, 38 strains of O. sativa and 33 intermediate perennis-sativa strains from Jeypore Tract, India. It was assumed that the perennis plants having the particular zymograms are the progenitors of O. sativa so far as the genes controlling peroxidase isozymes are concerned. Comparative studies of isozyme genes for various enzymes might make it possible to detect progenitors of cultivated types from various forms of O. perennis. This publication has 2 references indexed in Scilit:
