Relationship Between the Length and the Weight in the Snapping Turtle Chelydra serpentina Linnaeus

Abstract
Length and wt. were detd. in 151 turtles freshly trapped in streams, lakes, and ponds of the lower peninsula of Michigan. Length ranged from 7.5 to 15 inches. No sexual dimorphism was apparent between the 74 [male][male] and 77 [female][female] so that the sexes could be lumped for detn. of the constants in the equation W=CLn. The values obtained were C = 1.625X10-4 and n = 3.064, the latter indicating the length-width relationship closely approximates the cube law.
