Abstract
Nine spectrograms of β Dor at 2.7 and 6.7 A/mm are analysed by differential curve of growth methods. A first analysis determines atmospheric parameters relative to the Sun and shows that β Dor has approximately solar abundances. The atmospheric parameters at phase 0.38 are adopted as standard and β Dor is re-analysed relative to itself at this phase. More accurate differential temperatures and electron pressures are then obtained which show that logarithmic density variations are a nearly sinusoidal function of phase with maximum density occurring at phase of radius maximum as given by the radial velocity curve. Anomalous behaviour of the line strengths of Eu II is found giving a marked apparent overabundance at all phases save that of light maximum. Keywords
