Abstract
The behavior of 6 normal monkeys in the solution oi" a series of 15 discrimination and 10 discrimination-reversal problems was compared with that of 4 monkeys in which the bilateral removal of the pre-frontal areas had been effected at least 6 months previously. The average error score for the normal monkeys was 1.3 errors for the discrimination tests and 2.1 errors for the discrimination-reversal problems. The operated animals made average error scores of 2.9 on the discrimination tests and 8.7 errors on the discrimination-reversal problems. These differences are significant at the 5% confidence level.
