Abstract
Muscle biopsies were taken from 11 patients with progressive muscular dystrophy. At intervals of 4 to 7 days, a second biopsy was taken from the same area. There was morphologic evidence of muscle regeneration in 5 of these patients. This evidence consisted of frequent mitoses among basophilic cells and the presence of myotubes at 4 days, whereas biopsies taken at 7 days contained larger, more differentiated myotubes and lacked the high frequency of cell division seen at the earlier interval. Keywords
