Abstract
To the Editor: A comparison of 53 Case Records of the Massachusetts General Hospital dating from September 1971 to August 1972 with 53 records assembled 10 years later (September 10, 1981, through September 9, 1982) revealed an abysmally low frequency of mention of the patient's current or usual occupation. Table 1 summarizes the results of this comparison. For the 1971–1972 time period, the patient's occupation was mentioned in only six cases. In only two cases was anything more than a job title noted.
