Abstract
The biology of the leaf beetle, Ophraella notulata (F), was studied in the laboratory. The pyriform eggs measure 0.53±0.03 mm in width and 0.69±0.03 mm in length, and hatch in 5.1±1.1 days. There are 3 larval instars which have a combined development time of 8.9-11.4 days. Head capsule measurements for each instar are as follows: 1st, 0.31±0.01 mm; 2nd, 0.45±0.03; and 3rd, 0.69±0.04 mm. Prepupae spin cocoons in which pupation occurs within 3.0 days. Duration of the pupal stages is 3.7-4.4 days. Total development time from egg deposition to adult emergence is 21.8±0.86 days. All stages occur on common ragweed, Ambrosia artemisiifolia L.This publication has 0 references indexed in Scilit:
