Abstract
The first of two articles on mononucleosis in this series, published last month (page 179), presented a practical approach to diagnosis of Epstein-Barr virus induced infectious mononucleosis. This article focuses on the heterophilnegative mononucleosis-like illness due to cytomegalovirus. This syndrome is self-limited, but early diagnosis is important to avoid unnecessary biopsy procedures. Keywords
