Abstract
Gundersen J H R. The theory of logical types - a cul-de-sac in communication theory. The article offers a brief review of the theory of logical types, the basic concepts, its history within the field of mathematical logic and the application and consequences for communication theory. The point of view offered is that the theory of logical types has minor practical value in the analysis of communication, and merely serves as an analog frame of reference. Furthermore, it is proposed that concepts within the theory of communication derived from the theory of logical types can be substituted, thus making communication more accessible to formal logical analysis.
