Abstract
The Bardeen, Cooper and Schrieffer (BCS) theory of superconductivity predicts a zero Knight shift at 0°K. An analysis of this result shows how it is related to the exact pairing between electrons of opposite k and opposite spin in this theory. The analysis and other considerations suggest a modification of the BCS theory, which then gives a Knight shift in reasonable agreement with Reif's measurements. Keywords
