Abstract
Oxidative addition reactions of HgII(O2CR)2 with cis-[(o-Me2NCH2C6H4)2PtII] as well as of [{oo′-(Me2NCH2)2C6H3}PtIIBr] resulted in the formation of a novel type of stable aryl Pt–Hg compounds of which [(o-Me2NCH2C6H4)2Pt(µ-MeCO2)Hg(O2CMe)] was the subject of an X-ray diffraction study [Pt–Hg 2·513(1)Å]; in contrast reaction of trans-[(o-Me2NCH2C6H4)2PtII] with HgII(O2CMe)2 proceeded via unstable Pt–Hg intermediates with the elimination of Hg0 and formation of the isomers of [(o-Me2NCH2C6H4)2PtIV(O2CMe)2](cis C, trans N and trans C, cis N).Keywords
