Abstract
The influence of the solvent on the transesterification between vinyl acetate and cis-(±)-4-hydroxymethyl-2-phenyl-1,3-dioxane [(±)--1] catalyzed by Pseudomonas fluorescens lipase has been studied. It was found that the enantioselectivity of the process depends on both the hydrophobicity and the polarity of the solvent.
